Olympic News: Hannah Teter Wins 2006 Winter Olympic gold!
» Olympic halfpipe photos

At 15, Hannah Teter is fast making a big name for herself on the pro snowboard circuit. The 2002 World Junior Halfpipe Champion took 2nd in the slopestyle and 3rd in the quarterpipe at the 2002 US Open and, on September 13 in Valle Nevado, Chile, in her first World Cup Halfpipe event, she amazed all with a solid 4th.

We caught up to Hannah, sister of pro rider Abe, up and comer Elijah, and Palmer Snowboards manager Amen, in between events for a little Q & A.

MZ: How long have you been snowboarding? Did you start off skiing and make the switch?
I started riding at the end of third grade, and that was about seven years ago. At first I was one of those little tyke skiers, but that quickly changed.

MZ: Do you still ski, too?
No

MZ: What would be your ideal day of riding? Where would you be and who else would be with you?
The most absolute perfect day of riding would by a blue bird day on which everything could be ridden, like having the most smooth and silky pipe and park, sick rails, and yet still some buttery pow in the woods. This day could be anywhere, at any given time, with any given people.

"It shocks me still today, the level I'm progressing to..."

MZ: Have you always wanted to compete professionally?
Well, when I first started riding I don't think that I imagined taking snowboarding this far down the road, to where I am standing today. I think I would have liked the idea then, but it never came across my mind. It shocks me still today, the level I'm progressing to.

MZ: What's the most sketch moment you've had on your board?
When I was showing the guys up on a kicker, hitting it before all of them, and overshot it with my speed, knowing while flying through the air, my landing was not going to be ok, and I just crashed to the ground...a ski patrol ride, and ambulance later, I was A-okay!
