Swiss Win Men's & Women's PGS
Parallel Giant Slalom
Stoneham, Quebec — December 21, 2003

It was a mirrored podium shot Sunday in men's and women's parallel giant slalom as the Swiss team finished 1-3 and the French grabbed both No. 2 spots. Just four days after winning the Chevy Truck U.S. Snowboard Grand Prix parallel giant slalom in Park City, Utah, Swiss rider Urs Eiselin overcame an icy course to claim another North American win, while teammate Ursula Bruhin won the women's race.

The victory bumped Eiselin to second in the men's parallel standings behind Austrian Siegfried Grabner. Bruhin also sits in second in the overall women's standings behind Daniela Mueli (also Swiss), who finished third behind Julie Pamagalski of France. Reigning World Cup parallel champ Matthieu Bozzetto of France was second ahead of Heinz Inniger of Switzerland.

Top American rider was 2003 Grand Prix champ Pete Thorndike (Meredith, NH) in eighth, followed by Eric Warren (Bennington, VT) in 21st and Chris Klug in 22nd. Adam Smith (Tangent, OR) and Anton Pogue (Hood River, OR) also raced finishing 30th and 37th respectively. On the women's side, World Cup rookie Erica Mueller (Steamboat Springs, CO), posted the best result with 29th in her first appearance. Stacia Hookom (Edwards, CO) finished 31st, one better than Rosey Fletcher (Girdwood, AK) and Michelle Gorgone, who took third in the Whistler PGS, was 37th.

The U.S. will return to action just after the New Year with a nighttime parallel slalom on Jan. 6 in Bad Gastein, Austria.
