Autti Wins Again

Tandadalen, Sweden — December 6, 2003

Antti Autti of Finland racked up 41.9 points Friday to win his second consecutive World Cup halfpipe, while teammate Risto Mattila, who was second in the season's first event, was a mere 1.1 back. Venzenz Lueps of Germany was third with 39.5 points. Topping the women's contest with a 37.1 point run was Great Britain's Lesley McKenna. Swiss veteran Fabienne Reuteler was second with 36.5 points followed by Sweden's Anna Olofsson with 35.6 points. No Americans competed.

After two events, Autti rules the men's standings with a perfect 2000 points, 400 ahead of Mattila. Top American's are Steve Fisher (St. Louis Park, MN) in eighth followed by 2002 Olympian Tommy Czeschin (Mammoth Lakes, CA) in ninth. With 1050 points, Norway's Kjersti Buass retains the No. 1 spot for the women with a fifth place finish in Tandadalen to compliment her third place result at the World Cup opener in Chile. Vermont's Hannah Teter (Belmont, VT) sits within striking distance, just 50 points back following her win at the World Cup opener, while Lindsey Jacobellis (Bondville, VT) holds onto fifth, just 200 back of Teter.
